Drug Peddler Held with Contraband Substance in Anantnag’s Bijbehara

Anantnag: Police in Anantnag apprehended a drug peddler during routine naka checking on NH-44 near the Landing Strip in Bijbehara.
An official said the accused has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Malla, son of Gh Mohi-ud-Din Malla, a resident of Konjibal Tral.
He said that during the checking, approximately 3.500 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from his possession. The accused was immediately taken into custody.
Police also seized a Santro vehicle bearing registration number JK13C-0273, which was allegedly used in the commission of the offence.
In this connection, FIR No. 27/2026 under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Bijbehara Police Station, and further investigation has been taken up, he added.
The operation was carried out on the directions of SSP Anantnag, Shri Amritpal Singh (IPS), and was led by SHO Bijbehara, Majid Khan, along with his team.
Anantnag Police reiterated their commitment to curb the menace of drug trafficking and urged the public to cooperate in eradicating narcotics from society.
