Drug Peddler Arrested in Kulgam, 1 Kg Charas Recovered.
Kulgam Police, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Qazigund, successfully apprehended a drug peddler during naka checking at Babapora.
The accused was intercepted while travelling from Bonigam towards Babapora, carrying a polythene bag. On noticing the police party, he attempted to flee but was tactfully apprehended by the alert naka party.
During personal search, a polythene packet containing a charas-like psychotropic substance weighing approximately 1 kilogram was recovered from his possession.
The arrested person has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Ganie, S/o Mohd Ramzan Ganie, R/o Nassubadragund.
Accordingly, FIR No. 20/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Qazigund, and investigation has been taken up. Efforts are underway to trace the source of the contraband, identify the intended destination, and dismantle the wider narcotics network.
Kulgam Police reiterate their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and warn that strict legal action will be taken against anyone involved in the illegal drug trade.
