Mehbooba Mufti Calls for Reconciliation During Visit to Shiv Mandir Amo Verinag

Anantnag: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday visited Shiv Mandir Amo Verinag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, where she participated in the Yoni Travan ceremony and interacted with members of the Kashmiri Pandit community.

Addressing the media , Mufti emphasized the need for reconciliation and communal harmony, urging people to move beyond the painful memories of the past and work collectively for a better future. She praised Kashmiri Pandit doctors and professionals who continue to serve people in Kashmir irrespective of religion, describing their efforts as an example of humanity and mutual respect.

Mufti said young Kashmiri Pandits should follow such examples and reconnect with their homeland. “We must look towards the future and strengthen bonds between communities,” she said.

The former chief minister also highlighted several issues faced by Kashmiri Pandits residing in Kashmir and those living in migrant colonies in Jammu. She said many families continue to face housing shortages, inadequate civic amenities, and other hardships. She urged the government to address these concerns and ensure better living conditions for the community.

Expressing happiness over the participation of Kashmiri Pandit families in the religious function, Mufti said such visits help strengthen cultural and spiritual ties with the Valley. She also stressed the need for improved facilities, including accommodation and infrastructure near major temples, to encourage more devotees to visit and organize religious events.

She said the return and active participation of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir’s social and cultural life would contribute significantly to the prosperity and inclusiveness of the region.
