Kangan, – A local resident from Bonibagh in Kangan, central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, displayed remarkable courage by rescuing a venomous snake found in a household kitchen, preventing potential danger to the family.

The unexpected appearance of the snake caused immediate panic among the household members, leading to distress and alarm, as reported by local witnesses. Jaffer Majeed, a community member, responded quickly to the frightened cries from the home. “I heard screaming in the neighborhood after they spotted the snake in their kitchen. I rushed there and managed to capture it,” he recounted.

Jaffer’s swift action not only provided immense relief to the family but also reassured the surrounding community, as he safely removed the snake from their premises.

This incident adds to Jaffer’s legacy of wildlife protection; in 2018, he rescued a female fawn of the endangered Hangul deer and has aided various birds and reptiles over the years. His dedication has made him a respected figure in the region, known for his commitment to both community safety and wildlife conservation.
