Health Minister Sakina Itoo Announces Strict Action Against Doctors Working in Private Clinics During Duty Hours
Anantnag : Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo chaired a crucial review meeting at Dak Bungalow, Anantnag, with health officials from South Kashmir, including Shopian and Kulgam districts, via virtual mode. The meeting focused on addressing key issues to improve patient care and healthcare services across the region.
During the meeting, Itoo highlighted ongoing concerns related to the MCCH Sherbagh hospital building in Anantnag, which is deemed unsafe for patient care. She pointed out that there is resistance from some individuals to relocating the hospital, despite its deteriorating condition. “Efforts are underway to find a suitable alternative location for the hospital to ensure the safety of both patients and staff,” said Itoo.
The meeting was attended by District Commissioner Anantnag, Syed Fakhrudin Hamid, Director Health Services Kashmir, Chief Medical Officer Anantnag, and other senior officials.
Itoo also announced strict action against doctors found working in private clinics during their duty hours, emphasizing the need for accountability and improving healthcare delivery to the public. “Doctors must focus on providing services in government facilities, especially during winter when people face difficulties accessing healthcare,” she added.
The Minister stressed the importance of health centers during the winter months, urging officials to take immediate steps to improve healthcare facilities and ensure they are adequately equipped to handle the seasonal challenges.
Itoo reiterated her commitment to improving the healthcare system in the region and ensuring that all health centers are properly equipped to serve the needs of the public.
