Militant Associate Arrested, Weapons and Ammunition Seized in Kulgam
Kulgam: In a major counter-insurgency operation, security forces arrested a militant associate and seized a large cache of arms and ammunition in Kulgam district on Wednesday.
The operation, which was part of a joint security initiative, took place at a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) along NH-44 near Thokerpora. During the search, forces intercepted the suspect, identified as Ubaid Khurshid Mir, a resident of Thokerpora, Qaimoh in Kulgam.
A detailed search led to the recovery is 1 AK-47 Rifle,4 AK-47 Magazines,120 AK-47 Rounds, 2 Grenade and 1 Ammunition Pouch
A senior police official confirmed that the recovered weapons were intended for use by militant outfits operating in the region. The arrest of an Over Ground Worker (OGW), is seen as a significant success in the ongoing efforts to dismantle militant networks and prevent the flow of arms into the area.
