Kulgam : As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to visit Kashmir on January 13th, security along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, particularly near Alstop Wanpoh in Kulgam, has been ramped up. The heightened measures are part of extensive preparations for the visit of PM Narinder Modi and the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
Senior officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal-IPS, SP National Highway, Mumtaz Ali, SDPO Qazigund, Rameez Raja, and DySP Kulgam, Rajesh Kumar, are overseeing the security operation. Checkpoints have been strategically set up at key locations along the highway, and security forces are conducting rigorous vehicle checks to ensure a smooth and safe visit.
PM Modi’s visit is expected to mark the inauguration of the much-anticipated Z-Morh Tunnel, a vital infrastructure project on the Srinagar-Ladakh National Highway. The tunnel, which follows the completion of the Zojila Tunnel, is poised to significantly enhance connectivity in the region, especially during the harsh winter months when travel can be difficult. The opening of this tunnel is a major milestone for the region’s infrastructure development, offering improved accessibility and economic opportunities.
With security forces on high alert, authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the successful completion of the visit while safeguarding public safety. These security arrangements are a part of ongoing efforts to maintain order and peace in the region.
