Mumbai: Actor Saif Ali Khan and his household faced a terrifying break-in early Thursday when an intruder entered his Bandra residence and stabbed him during a robbery attempt. The incident, which occurred on the 11th floor of the actor’s duplex, lasted approximately 30 minutes, during which the attacker injured Khan, his son Jeh’s nanny, and another staff member before escaping.

Visuals this morning showed the man being brought to the Bandra police station. Not much is known about him, and it is also not confirmed if he is the same man who had broken into the actor’s home yesterday and attacked him, as reported by NDTV.

The suspect reportedly entered the building using the fire shaft and accessed the top floors without being caught on CCTV cameras. Khan, who sustained six injuries, including to his neck and back, was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery and is now out of danger.

According to the nanny, Eliyamma Philip, the intruder demanded ₹1 crore and threatened the household staff before attacking her with a hexa blade. The confrontation escalated when Khan and his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan entered the room. Despite their efforts to overpower the attacker and confine him in a room, the man managed to escape through the building’s fire exit, as captured by CCTV footage.

A manhunt ensued, with 20 police teams deployed across the city, including Vasai and Nalasopara. The suspect was spotted near Bandra railway station after reportedly changing clothes to evade detection. Early Friday, visuals showed a man being brought to the Bandra police station for questioning.

The attack has raised concerns about building security, as the suspect is believed to have been familiar with the layout and possibly connected to a house-help. Mumbai Police has registered a case of robbery, trespassing, and causing grievous hurt, while the Opposition has criticised the state government for the apparent lapse in law and order.
