Omar Abdullah Urges Transparent Probe into Civilian Killings, Pushes for J&K Statehood

Discusses Kathua and Sopore Incidents with HM Amit Shah, Calls for Accountability and Statehood Restoration

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said he discussed the Kathua and Sopore incidents with Union Home Minister Amit Shah during their recent meeting in New Delhi.

Speaking to the media after visiting a fire-affected family in Beehama, Central Kashmir, Abdullah said the meeting with the Home Minister was productive.

“Multiple issues, including the Kathua and Sopore incidents, were discussed. We have sought a transparent probe into both cases and are hopeful that those responsible will be held accountable,” he stated.

He further added that the discussion also covered the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and the upcoming Budget Session of the J&K Assembly.
