In a tragic incident, the body of a missing teenage girl was recovered on Sunday from a power canal near the Haknar Fraw area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
According to officials, a joint search operation was launched earlier in the day by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police after the girl was reported missing since April 5.
Following hours of intense efforts, the rescue team succeeded in retrieving her body from the canal.
The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Shabnam Bano, daughter of Nazir Ahmad Khatana, a resident of Fraw Haknar.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to her death.
