Kulgam: Security forces launched a search operation in the Tangmarg area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on wednesday after brief contact was established with militants. The operation involves the Army, CRPF, and Kulgam Police.
The area has been cordoned off, with all entry and exit routes sealed. No fresh firing has been reported, but a search is ongoing to trace the militants.
This action follows a deadly attack on April 22, in which 26 tourists from various states were killed, triggering nationwide shock and tighter security across the Valley.
Security forces are using drones and sniffer dogs in the operation. Additional troops have been deployed to prevent any escape. Locals have been advised to stay indoors as a safety precaution.
Officials say the situation is under control, but the search will continue until the militants are found. The region remains tense but calm.
