Punjab : In light of the recent tragic incident in Pahalgam, where 26 innocent civilians lost their lives in a terrorist attack, a delegation from the Rah-e-Umeed Foundation and the United Sikh Students Federation (USSF) Sunday met Education Minister Sakina Ittoo to address the safety and well-being of students from Jammu & Kashmir currently studying in Punjab.
The delegation, led by Jugraj Singh Majhail, provided a comprehensive briefing to the minister about the steps both Rah-e-Umeed and the USSF have undertaken to ensure the safety, dignity, and academic continuity of the affected students.
During the meeting, Jugraj Singh Majhail emphasized the importance of allowing students to continue their education in a safe and peaceful environment, especially during the ongoing examination season. The delegation strongly urged the Education Minister to reconsider any directives that may compel students to return to Kashmir at this sensitive time. “Our priority should be the mental and physical well-being of the students. Forcing them to travel under duress could jeopardize not only their safety but also their academic performance,” Majhail stated.
To reassure the government of their commitment, the delegation assured Minister Ittoo that students remaining in Punjab will be provided with comprehensive support. This includes secure accommodation, food, counseling services, and round-the-clock security measures. Both organizations reaffirmed their resolve to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that students are treated with care and compassion during these trying times.
As a token of goodwill, Jugraj Singh Majhail also presented a copy of the book Global State Order to the Hon’ble Minister.
The Rah-e-Umeed Foundation and the United Sikh Students Federation remain committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students, especially in moments of crisis. The organizations called on all civil society members and governmental authorities to work together to uphold the rights and dignity of every student, regardless of their region or background.
