Jammu: Investigations by the State Investigating Agency (SIA) into miliant financing have uncovered a man’s involvement in funding militant organisations through Bitcoin trade, leading to violence and militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir, PTI reported quoting officials on Monday.
The SIA has issued a public request for help in identifying the person behind the militant financing.
An SIA officer stated that the investigation revealed the man was routing funds via Bitcoin trade to militant organisations to incite mass violence and militant actions. A case was registered in 2022 concerning militant financing in the Kashmir Valley.
The SIA has released a public notice seeking assistance in identifying the suspect, whose photograph has been shared. The public is encouraged to provide any information that could help identify the man, with assurances that all information will be kept confidential.
Information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect will be rewarded, the report quoted official saying further.
The SIA is probing several militancy financing cases in Jammu and Kashmir. In August 2022, the agency conducted multiple raids in the region as part of investigations into the use of Bitcoin for funding militant activities.
Officials also revealed that a Pakistani mastermind has been funnelling illicit money to agents in Jammu and Kashmir to instigate mass violence and militant acts, PTI reported.
