Anantnag: In a bid to spread awareness against drug abuse and encourage a healthy lifestyle among youth, a young fitness enthusiast from Haji Danter, Anantnag, on Sunday embarked on a solo run from Anantnag Lal Chowk to Srinagar Lal Chowk.
The awareness run was flagged off by DySP Headquarters Anantnag, Syed Mujahid-ul-Haq, who also participated in the event during the flag-off and lauded the initiative aimed at promoting the message of a drug-free society.
Speaking before commencing the run, Rahil Manzoor said the initiative is dedicated to motivating young people to stay away from drugs and adopt fitness as a way of life. He said drug addiction has emerged as a serious challenge for society and every effort must be made to guide youth towards positive activities.
Rahil said his journey is also a reflection of his own transformation. He revealed that he once weighed 93.6 kilograms and, through consistent hard work and dedication, reduced his weight to 68 kilograms. He said the experience changed his life and inspired him to encourage others to focus on their health and well-being.
“I want to convey a simple message to the youth: stay away from drugs, stay fit and believe in yourself. If my run inspires even one person to choose a better path, I will consider it a success,” he said.
He thanked SSP Anantnag Shri Amod Nagpuri for extending support and permission for the event and also expressed gratitude to his family, especially his grandfather and mother, for standing by him throughout his journey.
Describing it as one of the most important moments of his life, Rahil said he hopes to complete the run successfully and make his district proud while spreading the message of fitness, determination and a drug-free Kashmir.
