Green Valley Educational Institute successfully hosted its first-ever CBSE Capacity Building Program on Gender Sensitivity in Schools since the inception of CBSE at the institution. The day-long program aimed to equip educators with tools and insights to promote gender inclusivity, equality, and respect within the school environment.
The program was graced by Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Gulab Bagh, Ms. Suraya Kareem,as the Chief Guest, and Journalist Mr. Zamin Peerzada, as the Guest of Honour. The sessions were conducted by distinguished Resource Persons Mr. Rajeev Kumar Choudhary, Principal, Army School Badami Bagh and Ms. Shefali Yadav, Headmistress, Army School Badami Bagh.
In the forenoon session, Ms. Shefali Yadav spoke extensively on the importance of gender inclusiveness among students, highlighting how schools must ensure equal opportunities, voice, and respect for every child, regardless of gender.
The afternoon session led by Mr. Rajeev Kumar Choudhary focused on gender equality and openness to professional responsibility. He emphasized that equality does not only mean giving the same opportunities but also creating an environment where students feel empowered to challenge stereotypes and rise to their full potential. He urged teachers to act as role models, fostering sensitivity and fairness in their classrooms. Mr. Rajeev further pointed out that when boys and girls are given equal chances in academics, sports, and leadership roles, they grow into more balanced and responsible citizens. He concluded by stating that “gender sensitivity is not an additional skill but an essential value that every teacher must internalize and pass on to their students.”
Chief Guest, Ms. Suraya Kareem, stressed that such initiatives are “crucial for the upliftment of children and in shaping positive behaviours,” while Guest of Honour, Mr. Zamin Peerzada, emphasized that schools must serve as the first training ground for equality and respect, so that students emerge as advocates of fairness in society.
The program concluded with a lively interactive reflection session, where teachers shared their perspectives and pledged to implement the discussed practices in their teaching.
At the end, Principal of Green Valley Educational Institute, Mr. Riyaz Kathjoo, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and the esteemed Resource Persons. He praised CBSE for initiating such workshops and acknowledged the teachers enthusiastic participation, noting that programs like these will have a long-lasting impact on both teaching practices and student development. Mr. Kathjoo reaffirmed the school’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and progressive educational environment.
This landmark event marks a significant milestone for Green Valley Educational Institute as it continues to align with CBSE’s vision of fostering inclusive, progressive, and socially responsible schools.
