Kulgam : In response to the recent blast in Delhi, security has been intensified across South Kashmir, with Kulgam Police launching a comprehensive frisking and checking operation to ensure public safety and prevent any possible threat in the region.

The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway — one of the most sensitive transit routes in the Union Territory — has been placed under a strict security grid. Joint teams of Kulgam Police and other security agencies carried out rigorous checking of vehicles and commuters at several locations across the district and along adjoining highway stretches.

The operation was personally led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary, who reviewed deployments and monitored the on-ground security arrangements.

Speaking to reporters, SSP Kulgam said that while the checking drives are part of routine preparedness, they have been further intensified in view of the blast in Delhi. “We are fully alert and committed to preventing any possible disturbance in Kulgam. Our priority remains the safety and security of the people,” he stated.

He emphasized that such preventive measures are essential to maintain peace and stability in the district. “These drives send out a clear message that anyone attempting to disrupt peace will face a swift and uncompromising response,” the SSP asserted.

The heightened security checks in Kulgam come amid a coordinated effort across Jammu and Kashmir to ensure peace and preempt any potential threat following the Delhi explosion.
