The Government of India has approved the allocation of 200 electric buses for Jammu and Kashmir under the PM E-Drive Scheme, aimed at promoting green mobility and reducing vehicular emissions in ecologically sensitive regions.
In a letter addressed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H. D. Kumaraswamy stated that the request forwarded by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for deployment of 200 e-buses in the Union Territory has been considered and approved.
The letter noted that the buses are proposed for tourism and pilgrimage activities in the hilly and ecologically sensitive areas of Jammu and Kashmir. It further stated that CESL has been directed to include the 200 e-buses for J&K in the next tender under the PM E-Drive Scheme.
