Kulgam :In a move aimed at enforcing cyber regulations and preventing misuse of digital platforms, Kulgam Police have initiated action against six individuals for violating prohibitory orders on the use of unauthorized Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) in the district.
The action follows strict directions issued by the District Magistrate to curb unlawful online activities and ensure digital security.
In a statement issued here to news agency Kashmir News Corner, Kulgam Police have identified 06 persons using unauthorized Virtual Private Network services in violation of the prohibitory orders issued by the District Magistrate Kulgam.
Accordingly, security proceedings have been initiated against 06 such persons for non-compliance of administrative orders, it reads.
Pertinently, District Magistrate, Kulgam, issued prohibitory orders vide order No: DMK/JC/2025-26/1061-78 dated 27.12.2025 banning the use of unauthorized VPNs to curb misuse of online platforms, including encrypted applications, it reads.
Kulgam Police advised public against using unauthorised virtual private networks and any suspicious activity in this regard may be reported at nearby police unit or by Dialing 112, reads the statement. (KNC)
