SRINAGAR: Police in Kishtwar have arrested a man after registering a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl, officials said
The accused has been identified as Imran Hossain, son of Shamsuddin, a resident of Bhugrana Badhat in Tehsil Drabshalla of Kishtwar district.
Quoting Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar Naresh Singh news agency GNS reported that a written complaint was received at Police Post Drabshalla alleging that a minor girl had been sexually assaulted.
Acting on the complaint, police registered FIR No. 149/2026 under Sections 7/8/11/12 of the POCSO Act at Police Station Kishtwar and launched an investigation.

A special police team headed by SHO Kishtwar, along with Incharge Police Post Drabshalla and other officials, arrested the accused under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kishtwar
Police said further investigation into the case is underway and all legal procedures are being followed.
Kishtwar Police said it remains committed to ensuring a fair and speedy investigation while protecting the identity and privacy of the minor victim as mandated under law.
