Kulgam: As part of the security preparations for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026, SSP Kulgam Anayat Ali Chowdhary (IPS) on Wednesday chaired a high-level coordination meeting of senior officers from the Police, Army, CRPF and BSF at Railway Station Anantnag.
The meeting was attended by CO 1 RR, CO 18 Battalion CRPF, CO 46 Battalion CRPF, CO Adhoc KS-18 BSF, Additional SP Kulgam, Additional SP NHW Qazigund, Zonal Officers of Zones 06 and 07, DySP PC Mirbazar, SDPO Railway Anantnag and other senior officers.
During the meeting, a comprehensive review of security arrangements and deployment plans for the annual pilgrimage was undertaken. Discussions focused on strengthening security measures, ensuring seamless communication networks, traffic regulation on the National Highway and other connecting roads, vehicle parking management, and deployment of forces for the safety of pilgrims and the general public.
SSP Kulgam stressed the need for heightened vigilance at sensitive locations and directed officers to ensure adequate and effective deployment of personnel on the ground. He emphasized identifying and addressing vulnerabilities, if any, to maintain a robust security grid throughout the Yatra period.
He also instructed officers to revisit and fine-tune security plans at the zonal level to ensure prompt and effective response to any exigency. Special emphasis was laid on Road Opening Parties (ROPs), lateral deployments, and law-and-order arrangements to neutralize potential threats and meet emerging challenges.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from all agencies to work in close coordination to ensure a safe, secure and smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
