Rashtriya Rifles, Indian Army, in collaboration with J & K Tourism flagged off a six day trekking expedition from Batu in Ramban district on 08 Oct 22. The event was witnessed by civil dignitaries and media personnel. Seventeen avid trekkers from various walks of life including sportspersons, bloggers, photographers and local celebrities have congregated for the event. These include nine female and eight participants, with a healthy mix of local and outstation trekkers.
The trek commenced from the picturesque Neel Valley and will traverse unexplored meadows, lakes, waterfalls and jagged peaks in the majestic Pir Panjal Ranges, ultimately culminating at the Banihal Youth Festival on 13 Oct 22 at the Lambar Ground. The participants will also interact with the local youth to showcase patriotism, women’s empowerment and self-employment. They will also be closely exposed to the local way of life including participating in local cuisine.
The event is aimed at promoting tourism which has received an impetus due to the return to normalcy in the region and the various developmental changes, courtesy the dynamism of the state machinery, especially the JKTDC.
