In a bid to enhance emergency preparedness, a joint mock drill was conducted today at Qazigund Railway Station involving the police, CAPF, RPF, and Fire & Emergency Services. The exercise aimed to evaluate the readiness of security forces to respond swiftly and safely to critical situations, particularly those of a terror-related nature.
The mock drill was supervised by SSP Kulgam, Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS, who commended the efforts of the participating forces in improving their emergency response capabilities. “This drill is part of our ongoing efforts to streamline security measures and ensure that we can effectively handle any emergency situation,” said SSP Sarangal.
The exercise focused on testing the coordination, response time, and overall effectiveness of various agencies in managing a crisis. A team of specialist officers from Kulgam Police, CAPF, RPF, and Fire & Emergency Services participated in the operation, which also helped identify areas for improvement in security protocols.
This mock drill comes ahead of the much-awaited inauguration of the Udhampur-Banihal rail link, which will connect Kashmir with the rest of the country by train. Authorities are keen to ensure that the region’s security infrastructure is robust and well-prepared for any eventuality, especially as the rail services are set to begin.
J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the public, with ongoing efforts to improve emergency response systems and provide effective services to the community.
