Jammu/Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s address in the Legislative Assembly on Monday was met with both protest and sharp criticism, as MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed Ahmad disrupted proceedings over recent deaths in Baramulla and Kathua, while Peoples’ Conference president Sajad Gani Lone accused the speech of being “ideologically indistinguishable from that of the BJP.”

As soon as the LG Sinha began his address, Khursheed, carrying placards, demanded justice for two men killed in Baramulla and Kathua last month. He attempted to disrupt the session, but was swiftly removed from the House by marshals.

Meanwhile, Sajad Lone, in a post on X, lambasted the National Conference over the LG’s speech, claiming that it bore no difference from what the BJP would have presented. “The ideological overlap is total,” he remarked, pointing out the glaring absence of any reference to Article 370, Article 35A, or the August 5, 2019 developments.

“The NC government has finally done away with even the pretense of standing for Article 370,” he wrote. “I remember how, during the election campaign, it was all about Article 370 and how everyone else was BJP. And now, look at the overlap.”

Lone further criticized the speech as lacking direction and originality. “If this was meant to be a vision statement, it is as visionless as it can get, just a generic departmental rundown without any fresh political, social, or economic initiatives. Brace yourself for an uninspired governance spell, devoid of innovation or creativity,” he said. (With inputs from news agency KNO)
