Pillion Rider Dies, Motorcyclist Injured in Ganderbal Accident

Gund, Ganderbal – A fatal road accident in the Gund area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district claimed the life of a pillion rider and left the motorcyclist seriously injured on Friday afternoon.

According to officials, the accident occurred near Gund 21 in the Kangan area when a motorcycle (registration number JK02C-6240) was hit by a 407 vehicle belonging to the Border Roads Organization (BRO). The impact of the collision caused critical injuries to both the rider and the pillion passenger.

Both victims were immediately taken to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Gund. However, doctors pronounced the pillion rider dead on arrival. He was identified as Mohammad Qasim, son of Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Thanamandi in the Rajouri district.

The motorcyclist, Mohammad Ashraf, also from Thanamandi, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment under close medical supervision.

Local police in Gund have registered a case, and an investigation into the incident is currently in progress.
