Continuing its crackdown under the ongoing “Nasha-Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan,” Ganderbal Police arrested another alleged drug peddler in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kangan and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
According to officials, acting on specific and credible information, Police Station Kangan received input that an individual had concealed charas-like material in a cowshed adjacent to his residence in Khanan area of Kangan.
Following the input, a case FIR No. 31/2026 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered, and a police team, accompanied by an Executive Magistrate and the concerned Lumberdar, conducted a search operation after completing all legal formalities.
During the search, approximately 580 grams of charas-like substance was recovered and seized from the cowshed. The accused, identified as Javed Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Rehim Dar, a resident of Khanan Kangan, was taken into police custody.
Police said further investigation has been initiated to establish forward and backward linkages in the case.
Ganderbal Police reiterated its commitment to eliminating the drug menace from society and urged the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug trafficking.
