The Delhi High Court has granted one-week interim bail to jailed Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid, allowing him to visit his ailing father. Rashid, who has been in custody for more than six years, was given relief after the court observed that the case was fit for interim bail on humanitarian grounds.
According to the order, Rashid must furnish a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh along with a surety bond of the same amount. He will remain under strict supervision and must be accompanied at all times by at least two police officials in plain clothes. The court has restricted his movement to the residence or hospital where his father is undergoing treatment, and the address must be provided to the authorities.
The court further directed that he will not be allowed to move outside the specified premises. He can use only one mobile number, which must remain switched on at all times. He has also been instructed not to contact or influence any witnesses related to the case.
Only immediate family members will be allowed to meet him, and the cost of security arrangements will be borne by the National Investigation Agency.
