Kulgam Police, District Administration Retrieve State Land Worth ₹18 Lakh from Alleged Drug Peddler

Kulgam :Continuing its crackdown under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Jammu and Kashmir Police along with the District Administration retrieved six marlas of State land worth nearly ₹18 lakh from the possession of an alleged drug peddler in Qaimoh area of Kulgam on Tuesday.

Officials said the land falling under Survey No. 303 at Wanpora village in Qaimoh was found under illegal encroachment by Mohd Ramzan Sheikh, son of Juma Sheikh, a resident of Wanpora, who is involved in multiple NDPS cases registered at Police Station Qaimoh.

Police said the accused is involved in FIR No. 69/2023 under Sections 8/20 NDPS Act and FIR No. 20/2023 under Sections 8/21 NDPS Act.

The retrieved land has been taken into possession by the concerned authorities under the provisions of the J&K Land Revenue Act and other applicable laws. Officials said necessary notices were also pasted at the site, while further legal proceedings are underway.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kulgam, Shri Anayat Ali Chowdhary-IPS, said the police will continue intensified action against drug peddlers and anti-social elements, particularly those involved in illegal occupation of State land and unlawful activities.

He also appealed to the public to cooperate with police by sharing credible information related to drug trafficking and other criminal activities to help ensure a safer and drug-free society.
