The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has identified and arrested the alleged kingpin behind the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, a chemistry professor from Latur identified as P. V. Kulkarni.
According to officials, Kulkarni was associated with the examination process on behalf of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and had access to the confidential NEET-UG 2026 question papers.
Investigators revealed that during the last week of April 2026, the accused allegedly mobilized selected students with the assistance of another accused, Manisha Waghmare, and conducted special coaching sessions at his residence in Pune.
During these sessions, Kulkarni reportedly dictated questions, multiple-choice options, and correct answers to the students. The students allegedly handwritten the dictated material in their notebooks.
CBI officials stated that the questions and answers recorded by the students were found to exactly match the actual NEET-UG 2026 examination paper, strengthening evidence of a pre-exam leak conspiracy.
The agency is continuing its investigation to trace the wider network involved in the paper leak racket, including possible links with officials and intermediaries connected to the examination process.(KNC)
