Anantnag Court Sentences POCSO Convict to Life Imprisonment, Orders ₹10 Lakh Minimum Compensation
Anantnag:In a significant verdict, the Hon’ble Sessions Judge Anantnag and Special Judge under POCSO Act, Mr. Tahir Khurshid Raina, has sentenced the accused in FIR No. 03/2022, registered at Women’s Police Station Anantnag under Sections 376, 506 IPC and Sections 3/4 of the POCSO Act, to life imprisonment.
The court emphasized the protection of victims’ rights and took a strong stance against sexual violence, particularly crimes involving minors.
Further, the court directed the District Legal Services Authority, Anantnag, to process compensation for the victim, with a minimum amount of ₹10 lakh, while the maximum will be decided by the authority.
The judgment underscores the judiciary’s firm commitment to justice for sexual offense victims.
