Security forces raid multiple locations across Sopore, searches linked to case registered under ULA(P) Act
Security forces on Saturday conducted extensive searches at multiple locations across Sopore and Zaingeer belt of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district in connection with an investigation into activities linked with proscribed organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), officials said.
An official told news agency JKNS that the searches were carried out jointly by Sopore Police, Special Operations Group (SOG) and CRPF in areas including Sopore, Warpora, Tarzoo, Bomai, Latishot, Mundji, Botingoo and adjoining localities.
The searches were conducted following issuance of search warrants by court, in connection with FIR No. 42/2025 registered under Sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act [ULA(P) Act], official said.
The case pertains to allegations that members and associates linked with the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami J&K were involved in anti-national activities and were allegedly attempting to instigate youth towards secessionist activities within the jurisdiction of Police Station Sopore, official said.
Officials further said the searches were aimed at seizure of material relevant to the investigation, while further proceedings in the case are underway. (JKNS)
