A 14-year-old school-going girl died while being shifted from Kishtwar to Doda for medical treatment related to termination of pregnancy.
News agency JKNS cited an official as saying that the minor, whose identity has been withheld, was a resident of Chatroo in Kishtwar and was reportedly pregnant allegedly in connection with a school teacher.
The official said the girl was referred to Doda from Kishtwar for treatment related to termination of the pregnancy. However, she died on way to hospital.
A police official has informed that an FIR has been registered in connection with the incident and the teacher allegedly linked to the case has been arrested.
“Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy, the girl’s death and other aspects of the case,” the official added.
