Four Teachers Suspended Over Prolonged Absence in Jammu Kashmir School

The Office of the Chief Education Officer, Rajouri, in Jammu and Kashmir has suspended four teachers of Middle School Namblan with immediate effect over findings of prolonged unauthorized absence and serious administrative and academic lapses.

According to an official order issued on April 28, 2026, action was taken after a complaint prompted authorities to constitute a two-member committee to conduct a surprise inspection of the school in Zone Rajouri. The inspection report revealed that out of five teachers posted at the institution, only one—Abdul Shakoor—was present at the time of the visit.

The four teachers suspended have been identified as Ayaz Ahmed (3rd Teacher), Mohd Jhangeer (RRET), Vikram Bali (Teacher), and Mushtaq Ahmed (Teacher Grade-II). The report noted that all four were absent without sanctioned leave.

The committee also flagged poor academic functioning and administrative deficiencies, highlighting that only 28 students were present against a total enrollment of 123, indicating a significant drop in attendance and overall school performance.

The order states that the willful and unauthorized absence of the teachers constitutes gross misconduct, negligence, and dereliction of duty, adversely affecting students and the functioning of the institution.

Invoking Rule 31 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956, the Chief Education Officer directed the immediate suspension of the four teachers. They will receive subsistence allowance as per rules during the suspension period.

As part of interim arrangements, Vikram Bali has been attached to Primary School Jabber Dhara in Zone Doongi, while the remaining three teachers will continue to remain attached to Middle School Namblan until further staff arrangements are made.
