Srinagar: The BJP has confirmed that all five nominated members in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly will be from its ranks.
Sofi Yusuf, the party’s Vice-President for the region, named the nominees as Ashok Kaul, Rajni Sethi, Sunil Sethi, Dr. Fareeda Khan, and Sanjita Dogra.
He said that with the BJP ruling in New Delhi (Centre), the decision to nominate party members had already been made.
The three-phase elections, which concluded on October 1, are awaiting results on October 8.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina expressed confidence that the party will secure 35 seats, forming a government with the support of independent and like-minded candidates.
He also mentioned that the nomination process of five MLAs, conducted by the Lieutenant Governor, aligns with the Reorganisation Act.
Raina further stated that the BJP expects a resounding victory, citing strong public turnout at rallies by Modi and Amit Shah in JK.
He predicted a significant defeat for Congress and reaffirmed that the BJP had supported 15 independent candidates, though it had no alliance with Engineer Rashid’s party.
