Over 600 Grams of Charas Recovered in Separate Naka Checks; Crackdown Intensifies

Continuing its intensified drive against drug trafficking, Pulwama Police on Tuesday achieved a major success by arresting three drug peddlers and seizing a significant quantity of contraband in two separate naka checking operations.

Police spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, During search, 176.5 grams of charas powder-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganie S/o Mohd Shafi Ganie R/o Murran.
During questioning, the accused disclosed that the contraband was procured from one Mohd Akram Shah S/o Ghulam Ahmad Shah R/o Junglenard Shal Tokuna.

Acting swiftly on this information, police conducted a search at the residence of the said person, leading to the recovery of an additional 198.5 grams of charas powder-like substance. The said accused was also arrested on the spot. In this regard, FIR No. 54/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Pulwama and investigation is underway.

In another operation, a naka party of Police Station Litter at Wasoora intercepted a motorcyclist coming from Chakoora towards Tahab. During search, 235 grams of charas powder-like substance was recovered concealed behind the visor of the motorcycle bearing registration number JK13C-1083.

The accused has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Dar S/o Gh. Nabi Dar R/o Rakh Litter. Accordingly, FIR No. 42/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Litter and investigation has been taken up.

Pulwama Police reiterates its firm commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and urges the general public to extend cooperation by sharing any information related to drug trafficking. (KNC)
