Srinagar:Dr Nuzhat Bashir Shah officially assumed charge as the Director of Ayush, Jammu & Kashmir, marking a historic milestone as the first woman to lead the Directorate.
With an illustrious career in the Ayush sector, Dr. Nuzhat has served in key roles, including District Ayush Officer, Anantnag, and Deputy Director Ayush. Her contributions have been instrumental in advancing and strengthening traditional medicine in the region.
As she steps into this leadership role, Dr. Nuzhat has outlined a forward-looking vision for Ayush in J&K. A staunch advocate for the development of the medicinal plants sector, she aims to promote cultivation and sustainable extraction of high-value medicinal plants, fostering opportunities for farmers and entrepreneurs.
To mark the occasion, an introductory meeting was held at the Directorate of Ayush, J&K, in Jammu. The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Ayush, Jammu, Dr. Suresh Sharma; Assistant Directors Dr. Rakesh Kumar Raina and Dr. Sujad Hussain Shuja; Chief Accounts Officer Sonam Singh; Medical Superintendent of Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu, Dr. Vandana Dogra; Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Aruna Bhat; District Ayush Officers of Udhampur and Samba, Dr. Surekha Pandita and Dr. Renu Das; along with the staff of the Directorate of Ayush, J&K, and the National Ayush Mission.
The staff expressed confidence that, with her extensive experience and dedication to the sector, Dr. Nuzhat will steer the Directorate towards a new era of growth and innovation, ensuring that traditional medicine and wellness practices reach every corner of J&K.
