Massive Fire Damages Hotel in Pahalgam; One Man Dies During Firefighting Operation

A massive fire broke out in a hotel in the tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district early Tuesday, officials said. The blaze caused extensive damage to several structures of the hotel and triggered panic in the area.
According to officials, the fire erupted at Hotel Asal Resort and quickly spread, engulfing three structures of the property. A vehicle parked nearby was also damaged in the incident. Soon after receiving the alert, several fire tenders rushed to the spot and launched an operation to douse the flames.
Firefighters faced significant challenges during the operation as multiple LPG cylinders exploded at the site, intensifying the blaze and making the firefighting efforts more difficult. However, after hours of strenuous efforts, the fire was eventually brought under control.
While no casualties were reported due to the fire itself, a tragic incident occurred during the firefighting operation. Officials said an employee of a nearby hotel died after he was allegedly hit by a fire tender that was reversing near the site after the operation.
Police and emergency teams also reached the area to assist in the operation and ensure safety around the affected structures.
Authorities said three structures of the hotel and a vehicle were damaged in the incident. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Officials said an investigation has been initiated to ascertain how the fire started and to assess the extent of the damage caused by the blaze.
