Hope Voters Come Out in Large Numbers For Phase 2 of J&K Polls’: Chief Electoral Officer PK Pole

Srinagar: Ahead of the second phase of polling in Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer of the Union Territory PK Pole expressed hope about better voter turnout in Phase 2 of Assembly elections in the Union Territory.  

“This (Lal Chowk) is a very historic place having significant meaning. Today under SVEEP, an electoral awareness programme was organised here. This was done to aware the voters. A large number of people participated in the polling here during the Lok Sabha polls. We hope that a large number of people will participate in the J&K Assembly elections also. Assembly elections are going to be held on September 25 in Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal,” PK Pole said. 

He appealed to people to come in large numbers to vote on September 25.

“For a better polling experience, all kinds of basic facilities have been provided at polling stations. The Election Commission of India has always tried to make the polls inclusive and so we conduct awareness programme,” he added.

Voter turnout reached 61.13% during the first phase of polling for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, which took place across 24 constituencies in seven districts. According to data from the Election Commission, this percentage was recorded by 11:30 PM. Voting commenced at 7 AM for the 24 seats, including 16 in the Kashmir region and eight in the Jammu region, and the process was peaceful. The Election Commission stated in a release, “Building on the successful foundation of the  Lok Sabha Elections 2024 , enthusiastic and orderly voting marked the start of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.”
